Scan of installation instructions - obviously the ability to read Japanese would be helpful here.

Look between the seat and the seatbelt tower - you can see three holes in the metal panel. In the three holes are bolts holding the soft top in place. Usually these three holes are covered by plastic trim. Sorry you can't see the plastic trim but, well, I already yanked all that.

The kit includes a template - one for either side of the car - that shows where to drill holes in the plastic trim. Once the holes are drilled, the bolts can be easily accessed and pulled out for top removal.

Picture showing the replacement metal plating in place - note normally the vinyl soft top would be between the black metal plating and the blue body of the car. The original plating is held on with bolts, the replacement is held on with wingnuts (about 14 of them) for easier removal. Note there are some black metal hooks protuding from the replacement plating - this is what you would slip your carpet on to keep the OEM appearance.

Another picture of the replacment plating as it goes down toward the seatbelt/door area of the car.

The kit also includes some rivets, I think these might be to hold the top to the replacement rails? That part of the directions escaped me...
